Snack and Sharing Schedule
In kindergarten, we have a whole class snack right after first recess. We ask families to provide snack for the entire class about 3 to 4 times throughout the year. If this is ever an inconvenience for your family or if you are out of town the day you are scheduled, just let me know. Snack typically includes 1 or 2 small items per day. Examples include: pretzels, cheese, fresh fruits and vegetables (sliced), whole grain crackers, yogurt tubes, dried fruit, small granola bars, etc. Please avoid any snacks that have nuts and hydrogenated oils. If you are sending your student to school with snack, please remind them to give it to me 1st thing in the morning.
Students will be scheduled to share (show and tell with a theme) on the same day that they bring our snack. The sharing schedule goes in alphabetical order based on first name. If your child is not on the current calendar, you can use the alphabetical order to predict when their name is coming up.
Round 1 Sharing Theme:
Bring something that represents your summer! This could be a photograph, a drawing, a small souvenir, swimming goggles, ect. Please keep in mind that we do not allow students to bring toys to school. This object is meant to be a used as a talking point about their summer, rather than something to play with. The focus should be on sharing something fun they did this summer and not the object they brought in.
Round 2 Sharing Theme:
Bring in a book you would like to share with the class!
Round 3 Sharing Theme:
Bring in something that represents the "festival of light" you celebrate during the winter holidays. Examples could be hanukkah, Christmas, santa lucia, ect. If your family does not celebrate a winter holiday, bring in something that represents a holiday that your family celebrates at any time in the year!
Round 4 Sharing Theme:
Bring in a book that you can read to the class! This can be a book from your own personal library or a book that they have been practicing from their book bag.
Round 5 Sharing Theme:
Bring in something that represents your favorite animal! You can also share something you learned at home about your expert group's animal. Families can e-mail me a video or a website to share with the class.
Round 6 Sharing Theme:
Anything you like!
